Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Compton Wynyates

The Granville Country Pub & Restaurant

52 Wellesbourne Rd, Barford, Warwick CV35 8DS, UK – 01926 620118

It was a warm Saturday evening and we had the back restaurant to ourselves unbelievably! The food was excellent and so was the courteous service. We didn't have to wait long. I had delicious sea bass fillets and my daughter and son in law were both delighted with their choices. The new seating area created outside at the back overlooks open country and is really a nice feature for family dining. For me though, it was a great place to celebrate my birthday and we will definitely go back.

Nice for a Saturday/Sunday afternoon. Staff are polite but not that professional. All in all, still a good place for late lunch. plenty of parking and kids play area to the rear.

The Boars Head

Church St, Warwick CV35 8BE, UK – 01789 840533

Having read some good reviews we popped out here for some lunch on a rainy Monday. The pub has a mixed, eclectic feel about it with old and modern furnishing, quite a lot of pine. There is a great 'grocery' stall addition along the main corridor, selling chutneys, spices and nuts etc. The garden looked nice, although we didn't sit outside due to the rain. For Patents: They were able to provide an attachable high chair for our 7 month old, one of those ones which straps onto a chair, which was great. On going to the toilet I was unable to find any changing facilities, so had to attempt to change our son on a hard, cold, marble surface alongside the sink, never before have I been so glad of the extra changes of clothes I arrived around with me to provide him with some head cushioning. It wasn't until after I'd changed him that I noticed a cupboard under the sink, which housed a changing mat and some changing items - would have been really great if they'd put a sign up on the wall saying these were available, as it's a huge shame to provide them so quietly. Food : The food, what can I say, other than amazing!! I had a tuna mayonnaise baguette, and despite me taking my time to get around to eating it, due to feeding our son, the baguette was nice and warm. The salad dressing was subtle but tasty. Not too much, nor too little mayonnaise on the tuna, it was delicious!! Definitely a place to revisit, especially now I know where the changing facility items are! (please put up a sign owner's :-) )

Nice traditional village pub. Good beer and friendly staff. Not a gastro pub but traditional pub fare well done.
